One vote, that’s what it took to re-elect incumbent Geneva Supervisor Gregory Bendzlowics. The final vote count was 190-to-189.
The absentee ballots gave Bendzlowics the win over challenger Tamarie Cataldo. On election day they were tied at 184 votes each. Yesterday Bendzlowics picked up 6 votes, Cataldo received 5 votes. The former city police detective said he was surprised by the tie and the low voter turnout.
He’ll represent Geneva Wards 5 & 6 on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors.
In Seneca County, the absentee ballots did not matter, as the final results remain the same as they did on election night. Winning the at-large County Supervisor seats from Seneca Falls were Republicans Paul Kronenwetter and Ralph Lott. In Fayette Challenger Andy Brown held on to defeat incumbent Bill Trout for the Highway Superintendent’s job.
