The absentee ballots have been counted, and Republicans Tim Lattimore and Chris Petrus have won election to the Cayuga County Legislature.
Former Auburn Mayor and incumbent Republican legislator Tim Lattimore had a one vote edge over Democratic candidate Bob Nodzo going into the vote count by the county election committee. He emerged the victor in District 13 by just five votes over the political newcomer, who was gracious in defeat.
Lattimore tells Finger Lakes News Radio he will continue to push to bring jobs back to Cayuga County.
Meanwhile, Petrus says he wasn’t entirely comfortable leading Grant Kyle by 24 votes as the count began.
When all the votes were tallied, Petrus added five more votes to defeat Kyle by a margin of 487-458.
With the results final, the legislature in January will be 8-7 favoring the Democrats.
