No more local teams left alive in the state high school playoffs. Clyde-Savannah’s Cinderella run came to an end last night, as they fell to Maple Grove of Section 6, 61-28, in the quarterfinals. On the college side, Syracuse will host Wake Forest at the Dome, 3 o’clock kickoff on Finger Lakes News Radio. Also, Hobart closes out the regular season with a noontime tilt at the University of Rochester.
In college hockey, Hobart takes out Castleton, 6-1; they’ll host defending national champion Norwich at The Cooler at 4 o’clock. Meanwhile, William Smith were blowout winners over Stevenson, 7-1; same two teams back at it at Stevenson at 5:30.
In college soccer, both Hobart and William Smith have 1st-round games today in the NCAA Tournament. The Herons host Laselle at Cozzens Field at 11 o’clock, while the Statesmen are at Buffalo State for a 7:30 kickoff.
In the NHL, the Buffalo Sabres dropped a 4-1 decision to Florida; they’ll head to Montreal for a 7pm faceoff. In the AHL, Rochester bested Belleville, 4-2; they’ll do it again at 7 o’clock, while Syracuse hosts Charlotte at the same time.
