A horse was killed Monday morning after being involved in an accident on Pre-Emption Road in the town of Benton.
20 year old Bridgette Spicer, of Lafayette, New York, was traveling south around 8:30 when she approached a horse drawn wagon that was also traveling south. According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, Spicer failed to slow down and struck the wagon, killing the horse, and causing the wagon operator, Marvin Martin, of Penn Yan, to be thrown off. Martin landed in an adjacent field. He suffered minor injuries to his shoulder and back.
Spicer was ticketed for failure to reduce speed for a special hazard.
