It will be a busy Election Day today locally.
In Yates County, incumbent District Attorney Valerie Gardner is being challenged by assistant Steuben County District Attorney Todd Casella. In contested county legislature races, six candidates are vying for four seats in District 1, while in District 3, seven people are on the ballot for four seats in the district. In contested town races, in Barrington, there’s an election for town supervisor, and in Jerusalem the town justice position is up for grabs. Town board seats are also being voted on in Benton, Milo and Torrey. Back in Barrington, three propositions will appear on their ballot regarding businesses serving alcohol.
Contested races in Schuyler County today include seats in Legislative Districts 1, 2 and 4, as well as town council seats in Hector and Tyrone. Residents of the town of Orange will vote for highway superintendent, town clerk/tax collector, and one council member. In Dix, two are competing for the town clerk/tax collector position. In the Steuben County town of Wayne, Charles Swartout and David Bauer are squaring off for highway superintendent.
