The Corning man accused of possessing more than 3-HUNDRED images of child pornography on his computer pleaded guilty in federal court last week.
Prosecutors say Kevin Theil received the images over the Internet with some depicting pre-pubescent minors and violence. The investigation into Thiel began one year ago after Ithaca authorities were alerted by a woman that said she knew a Corning man that had sexual interest in children. Thiel had shown the woman naked pictures of 7 and 8 year old girls on his iPad. He also admitted to the woman he sexually abused his 14 year old niece on several occasions and wanted her help in facilitating a sexual encounter with an underage female. Authorities executed search warrants at Thiel’s Corning home and his lake house in Hammondsport.
He faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced December 21st.
