The two men accused of stealing nearly 2-THOUSAND dollars of merchandise from the Penn Yan CVS store back in June were sentenced for the subsequent police chase that ended in Seneca County.
Judge Dennis Bender sentenced 31 year old Ruben Rivera to 1.5 to 3 years in prison after the 31 year old Bronx man pleaded guilty to criminal possession of stolen property. 27 year old Arturo Diaz, of New York City, will spend the next 10 months in county jail after pleading guilty to charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument and driving while ability impaired by drugs.
When Penn Yan Police arrived at the Lake Street business, both suspects had fled but not before witnesses were able to identify their car and record them during their getaway. Surrounding police agencies were notified of the car, which was spotted a short time later in Geneva. The suspects led police on a short pursuit and were ultimately taken into custody by State Police in Waterloo and jailed in Seneca County.
