Cayuga County residents could face a tax increase if the proposed budget presented to the County Ways and Means Committee on Monday is approved.
Legislature Chair Keith Batman tells Finger Lakes News Radio the 2% bump in the tax levy is lower than increases in other counties.
He adds it holds the line on spending.
The committee will make adjustments to the proposed spending plan on Election Day next Tuesday. Batman calls it a scheduling quirk.
The 2018 budget is expected to be around $146 Million. Just over a half million dollars will be taken from the county’s fund balance, which is expected to be about $22 Million by the end of this year.
