The NY State Police announced on Tuesday a member of the West Genesee Central School District Board of Education has been charged with attempting to have sexual contact with a 12-year-old child in the town of Aurelius.
45-year old James Soper of Onondaga was arrested on Monday on two felony charges. West Genesee School Superintendent Dr. Christopher Brown tells Finger Lakes News Radio he was shocked to learn of Soper’s arrest.
Dr. Brown adds Soper’s days as a board member are done.
Following an appearance in Town of Aurelius Court on Monday night Soper was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail. He posted bail and is scheduled to appear in court on November 17.
