Gunter Weichenthal passed away suddenly at Rochester General Hospital on October 20, 2017.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel at 201 E. Elm St. in Penn Yan on Wednesday, (October 25, 2017) at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow for immediate family only at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan N.Y.
Memorial comtributions may be made to Penn Yan Ambulance Corps or Mercy Flight, 2420 Brickyard Road, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
Gunter was born on April 23, 1938 in Germany to Kurt and Ella Weichenthal. He was a machinist at American Can Co. and later owned his own machine shop.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0355 in Penn Yan and enjoyed wood working, German food and music.
Gunter is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Linda; brother, Wolfgang (Patricia); and sister, Helga Mitchell of Rochester; his sisters-in-law Ann Burdin, Norine (Gerald) Slayton; brothers-in-law Delbert (Jeanetta) Crocker, Charles (Mary) Crocker and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his parents; brother, Helmut; sister-in-law, Marion Weichenthal; and brothers-in-law Roger Burdin and Richard Mitchell.
