Auburn Police now say the discovery of a man’s body on Sunday morning is being investigated as a suspicious death.
In a release, Det. Bryant Bergenstock says a passerby found the body of the victim, identified as 39-year old Joshua Taro, on the front lawn at 59 N. Fulton St. at 7:58am. Investigators determined Taro had suffered injuries consistent with an assault.
Information was received that indicated Taro had been involved in a fight in the area of Jitz’s Tavern at 65 Franklin St. early Sunday morning. Subsequent interviews and surveillance images confirmed the reports.
Taro’s body was transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, where a preliminary autopsy failed to determine the cause of death. Initial findings do not indicated Taro’s injuries resulted in his death, and further tests are being conducted.
