Beatrice (Bea) Elizabeth Lower, 84, long-time resident of Ithaca and most recently of Geneva, New York, died on October 7, 2017 in the Geneva Living Center North Nursing Home.
Bea was born in Ithaca on February 8, 1933, daughter of the late Henry H. and Beatrice Bowlsby Lower. She graduated from Ithaca High School and worked several clerical jobs before taking a secretarial position at Cornell University, retiring in 1988 after 30+ years. She was a member of the West Hill Community Church, where she made many special and loving friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family members, church luncheons and neighborhood friends. She had an extensive cookbook collection and enjoyed trying new recipes. She listened to all kinds of music and sang in the church choir for many years. She also liked traveling, making several family trips to Florida, Aruba, Israel and Hawaii. Other hobbies were photography, shopping and gardening.
Bea is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Sherry) Personius Cudlin; sons Thomas H. (Susan Kennedy) Personius, Ricky L. Personius; sister Barbara J. Lambert; brothers William L. (Patricia) Lower, Robert T. (Hattie) Lower; granddaughter Crystal Personius (Douglas) Hite; grandsons Timothy K., TJ (Thomas) R. (Christine) Personius, Jason L. Personius and Travis D. Cudlin; three great-granddaughters and
one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; a cousin; great nieces and nephews; and loyal friends. Bea was preceded in death by her son, Donald K. Personius; brother and sister-in-law Henry H. (Beatrice) Lower, Jr.; a brother-in-law, Wilbur Lambert; infant sister, Marion E. Lower; son-in-law, David J. Cudlin; nephew, Jason P. Lambert; and great-niece Amanda Lower.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Jacob Skezas, as well as the staff at Seneca Lake Terrace for their exceptional tender loving care and patience with our mom. This stubborn lady with the red lipstick smile will be missed by us all.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, (October 14, 2017) at West Hill Community Church, 3049 Van Dorn Corners Road, Ithaca, New York. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
