It’s a story we have been tracking since the early morning of July 20th, 2016, when Craig Rideout’s body was found wrapped in a tarp just off Adams Road in the Yates County Town of Jerusalem. This afternoon, sentences were handed down for his estranged wife Laura and sons Colin and Alexander. Laura Rideout got 25 years to life for murder plus 15 years for burglary and up to 4 years for evidence tampering. Colin Rideout, 25 years to life for murder, plus 1 1/3 to 4 years for evidence tampering. Alexander Rideout got 1 1/3 to 4 years on two separate tampering charges. Those sentences to be served consecutively. Judge Thomas Moran said this was perhaps one of the most gruesome cases he ever worked on.
The verdicts are expected to be appealed.
