A public memorial service will be held Friday morning to remember the four Schuyler County employees murdered 25 years ago this month while working at the Schuyler County Office Building in Watkins Glen.
The ceremony will remember and celebrate the lives of Florence Pike, Nancy Wheeler, Phyllis Caslin and Denise VanAmburg. The four were killed by an Ohio man that claimed his child support payments to Schuyler County ruined his life. The four women killed all worked in the social services department. The gunman took his own life following the shootings.
Friday’s ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature remarks from retired Sheriff Michael Maloney, who was in charge of the sheriff’s department at that time.
