A report released on Tuesday by state comptroller Thomas DiNapoli shows Cayuga County has the second highest percentage of structurally deficient local bridges in the state (27.8%) . Twenty-four of the 87 bridges in the county are need of repair, and only Seneca County has a higher percentage of problem bridges.
County legislature Chair Keith Batman tells Finger Lakes News Radio the numbers don’t show the true picture.
Batman adds the cost of repair is the major stumbling block for all counties.
The report estimates it would cost over $27 Billion to repair all of the locally-owned problem bridges in the state.
