Auburn City Council on Thursday approved additional funding for the massive North Street water main project. 1,000 feet of pipes on York Street between Willey Street and the Chase Street extension will be replaced. That section was not properly installed and has resulted in multiple water-main breaks.
City Clerk Chuck Mason said on Friday’s Finger Lakes Morning News that’s impacted operations at the NUCOR Steel plant.
The cost of the reconstruction has more than doubled to $2.2 Million since the original bond was approved in April 2016. Mason said the total project cost will be financed through $627,000 in grant funds and $1.5 Million in bond proceeds.
