John Fischetti, 84, the husband of Dorothy Trinca Fischetti, of Auburn, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 in Cortland Regional Medical Center.
A lifelong Auburn resident, John was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having proudly served during the Korean War. Following his discharge he was employed and retired as a welder for ALCO. He was an active member in the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 296 and thoroughly loved picture taking and photography. John at one time had his own dark room and developed his own photos.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, John is survived by his “Military Family” of whom he was very proud: one son, Anthony (Coast Guard Reserves) and his wife, Michele, of Auburn; two daughters, Mary Huff (U.S. Air Force) and her husband, John (U.S. Air Force, retired), of South Carolina, and Phyllis Siemiatkowski (Coast Guard Reserves) and her husband, Ed (Coast Guard, retired), of Locke; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph (Army National Guard), Brian (Coast Guard), Tyler (Coast Guard), and Gina; very dear friend, Hugh Crowley; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian burial to be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29 in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded. There will be no calling hours.
