Auburn City Council on Thursday night will take the first reading of a bond ordinance to cover the increasing cost of reconstructing the city’s water distribution system.
One of the major projects on the table is the reconstruction and improvement of the aging North Street water main. The scope of that project has grown and the price tag has more than doubled from just over $1 Million dollars to $2.2 Million since Council authorized a bond in April 2016. The total project cost will be financed through $627,000 in grant funds and just over $1.5 Million in bond proceeds.
Municipal Utilities Director Seth Jensen will also give council a report on the North Street project after the reading of the bond ordinance.
