John Greenwood, the Cornell University student arrested earlier this month for an assault on another student, will have his arraignment scheduled for today postponed until December.
The delay was granted at the request by the Tompkins County District Attorney’s office, which will use the time to present evidence to a grand jury, which will decide if there’s probable cause to charge the 19 year old with a hate crime. Greenwood is accused of assaulting an African-American student that also attends Cornell during the early morning hours of September 15th. He is accused of using racial language during the assault.
Thru his attorney last week, Greenwood issued a statement apologizing for what he called “unacceptable and inappropriate” langugage he used during a verbal exchange.
