Geneseo High School has announced it will forfeit the rest of its football games following allegations of drug use by players.
In our American system of justice, allegations do not equal guilt. Guilt must be proven, with the burden of proof placed fully on the shoulders of the state. “Educators” at Geneseo could have taken this opportunity to remind its students how our system works, but apparently, they can’t be bothered.
In a statement, the district says it is “committed to high standards.” It would appear justice and due process are not among those high standards. If you ever go to trial, let’s hope there are no Geneseo High students or officials on your jury.
