The former treasurer for the Chemung County village of Millport has been arrested on felony grand larceny charges.
An investigation by the State Comptroller’s Office found Dawn Haverley allegedly stole more than 4-THOUSAND dollars in public funds. The 65-year-old was appointed to her position in 2006. Haverley was suspended in November 2015 after the Comptroller’s audit and an investigation began. The investigation found that Haverley pocketed more than 4-THOUSAND dollars in cash payments collected on behalf of the village, including more than 2-THOUSAND dollars in real property tax payments and nearly 2-THOUSAND in water rents and building permit payments.
She will appear in Millport Village Court at a later date.
