Ithaca Police have released the name of the individual arrested Friday night following an assault that was allegedly racially motivated.
John Greenwood, of Ithaca, was arrested that night and additional charges against him are pending. Greenwood is accused of beating up a black Cornell University student and sending him to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The unidentified victim told The New York Times he came home to find a group of students outside his off-campus house arguing with his housemates.
Police are still actively investigating the incident and are looking for any witnesses that may have been present during the alleged altercation and can provide an eyewitness account or video documentation. You can contact Ithaca Police at 607-272-3245.
