Just a month after getting final approval for the long-awaited Owasco Flats Restoration Project, Cayuga County has hit a roadblock. Six engineering firms visited the site, but only one submitted a bid.
Legislature Chair Keith Batman said on Wednesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News even though timing is critical, the Ways and Means Committee has decided to take a step back.
County Environmental Engineer Bruce Natale says if a new bidder comes forward the whole process will likely have to be repeated.
According to Natale, the lack of bids means construction could be put off until next year, but Batman is hoping the bid could be awarded in time for construction can get underway sometime this fall.
