A family of four, including a native of Ontario County, has been killed in a plane crash in Colorado. Investigators say 47-year-old Jeff Makepeace was on the fight with his wife and their 10-year-old twins when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff Friday from an airport in western Colorado.
Makepeace was born and raised in Naples before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado over 20 years ago. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Agency are working on finding out the cause of the crash, but investigators say Makepeace, who had a pilot’s license, lost radar contact during the flight. The family was headed to Utah.
