Canandaigua’s former fire chief is now suing the city. In his lawsuit, Mark Marentette says his right to a fair hearing was violated when he was fired in April. Marentette is also looking for compensation, and wants the job he had held since 2011 back. City officials are not commenting on the lawsuit, except to say that they are reviewing the matter. In January, Marentette was suspended ahead of a hearing, which lasted two days. Marentette was accused of misconduct and mismanaging public funds. Meanwhile, the city is still searching for a new fire chief.
