On 9/13/17 at 7:19am, Ontario County Sheriff’s Depuies, New York State Police, Ionia Fire Department, and Honeoye Falls Ambulance responded to the intersection of Conn Rd. and St. Rte. 5&20 in the Town of West Bloomfield, for the report of a rollover MVA. Cydney Hess of Bloomfield was making a left hand turn onto St. Rte 5&20 from Conn Rd. She failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and was struck by a Spallina Materials dump truck hauling sand, that was traveling west on St. Rte. 5&20. The dump truck was operated by Robert Clark of Prattsburgh and rolled over onto its side, spilling sand on the roadway as the driver tried to avoid the collision. Robert Clark was not injured from the crash.
Cydney Hess complained of neck pain and her front passenger complained of pain and swelling by his eye. They were both transported to Thompson Hospital by Honeoye Falls Ambulance.
Ms. Hess was issued tickets for failing to yield the right of way and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the 3rd degree. All occupants reported wearing their seatbelts.
State Route 5&20 was closed between Elton Rd. and County Rd. 37 for approximately 3 hours while the roadway was cleared of the two involved vehicles and sand.
