Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul and New York State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey were in Auburn on Friday afternoon to announce that the city will be home to a new $10 million heritage tourism center in the City’s downtown.
Planned for the lot adjacent to Seward House and a short distance from the Harriet Tubman Home, the Lt. Governor said it is the ideal location for a center that pays tribute to the history of equal rights.
Mayor Michael Quill tells Finger Lakes News Radio the announcement is a milestone event for the city.
The new I Love NY – Equal Rights Heritage Center in downtown Auburn will be a Central New York Upstate Revitalization Initiative investment of $10 Million. Mayor Quill says groundbreaking could take place sometime in December or early 2018.
