Marijuana growers beware. Last week’s seizure of over 250 mature plants hidden in farm fields across northern Cayuga County is just the first of a series of interdiction efforts by the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force.
Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould said on Thursday’s Finger Lakes Morning News a National Guard helicopter was used to find the contraband, but a new crime-fighting tool is ready to take flight.
He added the seized plants will be destroyed, but he wasn’t divulging any more information.
Sheriff Gould also said investigators are tracking down the growers, and more interdiction efforts are planned in the upcoming weeks.
