Seneca County Republicans picked their incumbent DA in yesterday’s primary elections. On the Republican line DA Barry Porsch won by a 59 to 39 percent. The vote count was 1,164 to 776.
However, there will still be two men in the race during November’s general election There are 858 write in votes on the Democratic line for the DA’s race and the Seneca County Board of Elections has not yet indicated who the votes are for. The winner will be on the Democratic line in November.
Sapio was also running on the Conservative and Independence party lines. He picked up 73 votes on the Conservative line and 113 on the Independence Party line. There are a a total of 91 write-in ballots on the two lines that also need to be counted.
All 949 write-in votes and any absentee votes have to be hand counted.
