Elvira was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on August 27, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Juan Maria Jusino and Ramona Castillo. She was a hard working woman at all she did. She was especially talented at sewing and crocheting projects. Elvira also enjoyed many hours of jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books.
Elvira had a big heart and a beautiful smile for everyone she met and left a lasting impression on those she has known only five minutes or fifty
years. The dedication that Elvira had for her family was never ending and we will remember her for the excellent cook she was, always feeding anyone who came to her house anytime of the day or night.
Elvira was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed forever by her family. She will be in our hearts always and we will remember her with love and respect for all eternity.
We were blessed that God allowed her to have a long life and we will think of her every day until we are together again. The Velez family is forever changed. We love you Elvira.
Elvira is survived by her sons Juan (Stacey) Velez of Geneva, Hector (Grace) Velez of Lyons, Carmelo (Edith) Velez of Geneva, Ruben Velez of Geneva, Pedro (Diane) Velez of Watkins Glen, Eliu Velez of Geneva; and her grandson, Juan Antonio “Tonito” (Shancy) Velez of Geneva whom she considered her son. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her beloved doggy, Brownie.
She was predeceased by her husband, Juan Velez Lopez; her daughters Ester and Teresa Velez; and her son, Jose Ramon Velez.
