A 24 year old Steuben County man that was convicted in June in the 2015 death of his girlfriend’s 17-month-old son was sentenced Tuesday.
Dakota Miller will serve 25 years to life in prison on the second-degree murder charge and 25 years on the first-degree manslaughter charge, with five years of post-release supervision. Both sentences will run concurrently.
The Hornell man was babysitting the infant while his mother worked on Thanksgiving Day 2015. Ian Maniske-Huff was found unresponsive with multiple bite marks, bruising, and bleeding from head to toe. Miller admitted he bit the child and investigators say he knew what he was doing and enjoyed it. The baby died at Strong Memorial Hospital three days later. Authorities say that before he died, the child was subjected to horrific torture that went, “far beyond murder.”
