A 33 year old Tompkins County man was sentenced to six years in prison after being found guilty in June of felony sex abuse.
Matthew Williams was also found guilty of two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He will face one year in jail each for those two convictions. According to the Tompkins County District Attorney’s office, the Danby resident provided two girls between the ages of 8 and 14 with alcohol while at a campsite in the town of Danby last summer. He then sexually abused one of the girls. The girls eventually ran away from Williams, who drove up and down a roadway during the overnight looking for them. A family friend of one of the girls was able to pick them up the following morning.
30 year orders of protection were issued to each of the girls.
