As the new school year begins the Auburn school district is continuing its grassroots effort to tell state lawmakers and the Cuomo administration its time to properly apply the Foundation Aid formula to aid financially strapped districts across the state.
Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo said on Tuesday’s Finger Lakes Morning News the districts understand that fully funding Foundation Aid would cost billions.
Pirozzolo and Auburn School Board President Michael McCole are reaching out to other districts. He says many may not know about the income wealth index.
In addition, the district’s parents council is spearheading a campaign to get parents and concerned residents to send petitions and postcards to Albany to urge lawmakers to finally take action.
