Eileen M. “Snooky” Dolan, 70, of Grove Avenue Extension, Auburn, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Aug. 24, 2017 at the Matthew House, after more than an 11-year battle with ovarian cancer, with her loving family always at her side.
She was born in Seneca Falls, the daughter of Florence Wheat Easton and the late Gerard Easton and had been an area resident for most of her life. “Snooky,” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was a nickname that came from her father at a very early age. Eileen previously worked at the former Red Star Express, Dr. Oh’s office, and more recently as a health aide for Herman Avenue School.
Snooky loved her family, her many close friends, and especially her grandchildren. In spite of her long and courageous battle with cancer which she vigorously fought, Snooky never let her sickness slow her down, as she attended all of her grandson’s Kevin baseball and basketball games, and all of Carly and Maggie’s school and sporting events. She was their biggest fan! Snooky was full of life and a joy for all to be with. She will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband of more than 48 years, William Dolan, of Auburn; two sons, Jeffrey (Amy) Dolan, and Michael (Kristine Federico) Dolan, all of Auburn; her mother, Florence Easton, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three beloved grandchildren, Carly, Kevin, and Maggie Dolan; a sister, Valeta “Lolly” (Robert) Kennedy, of Penneville; two brothers, Thomas (Lynn) Easton, of Lake Mary, Fla., and Gerard (Sue) Easton Jr., of Baldwinsville; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Gerard Easton in 1989.
A celebration of “Snooky’s” life will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday in Holy Family Church, with the Rev. James Enright officiating. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday afternoon at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eileen’s memory to Matthew House, 43 Metcalf Drive, Auburn, NY 13021 or the Holy Family CYO, 85 North St., Auburn, NY 13021.
