Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes stopped in Thursday afternoon to Area Records and Music on Seneca Street in Geneva.
According to owner Mike George, Saturday will be the stores last day.
All merchandise is 50% off, all music is 70% off.

The word spread quickly on Twitter and Facebook this morning and we confirmed it. Mike George who has been running Geneva’s Area Records and Music on Seneca Street for the last 40 has decide to retire and close the store after a liquidation sale in Mid-September. He tells Finger Lakes News Radio it’s been a great experience.
He says his wife and 5 young grand children will be keeping him busy enough.

Area Records & Music owner ready to begin new chapter after four decades, store liquidation sale starts Friday September 15th
Geneva, N.Y. — Mikel George, Owner, Area Records & Music has been involved with music retail in Downtown Geneva, NY for more than four decades, the last 40 years as Area Records & Music. On the date of the independent record store’s 40th anniversary, George has decided it’s time to retire. He says AREA will close its doors with many positive reflections.
“It has certainly been a good time, and our customers have always been incredible,” George said, “I never felt as if I was going to work every day. The social atmosphere and business routine mixed together really well.”
Music legends performing throughout the Finger Lakes, NY region made it a point to stop into AREA to purchase various music accessories and equipment, compact discs and vinyl LPs or to simply say hello and chat, including: Taj Mahal, Rosanne Cash, Warrant, Béla Fleck, Victor Wooten, Carlene Carter, Barenaked Ladies, Derek Trucks and band members, Chris Robinson, Tara Nevins, Brad Gillis of Night Ranger, Ra Ra Riot and of course Geneva’s own, Travis McCoy and Matt McGinley of Gym Class Heroes.
To give back to longtime customers, and to say good-bye, a liquidation sale on all merchandise will begin Friday, September 15, 2017.
Area Records & Music will remain open every day until most merchandise is sold.
