Congressman Tom Reed joined law enforcement and community leaders from around the region, including Yates County District Attorney Valerie Gardner and Watkins Glen Village Police Chief Steven Decker, at the Steuben County Courthouse in Bath Thursday to discuss the problem of opioid abuse across the region. Reed plans on re-introducing his bill called the Help Act that will target heroin dealers.
Congressman Reed says he is re-introducing the bill in the memory of those local victims whose stories he has heard at town hall meetings throughout the district.
Congressman Reed says he is still looking for a companion measure for his bill in the Senate but does see some opportunities as the opioid epidemic continues to rise across the country. See more photos of Thursday’s event below:
