George L. Fenner Jr., 83, of Aurora, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 at Auburn Community Hospital.
Mr. Fenner was born Feb. 13, 1934 in Sherwood, a son of the late George and Satira (Stevens) Fenner. He had worked as a truck driver for various local businesses, before taking employment as a heavy equipment operator with the town of Venice Highway Department for 20 years. George was a member of the King Ferry Senior Citizens and had enjoyed gardening. George had served with the New York National Guard/Army Reserves from 1952 to 1960.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie (Radcliffe) Fenner; five daughters, Lucinda Ann Krause (William), and Deborah Hazel Ecker (Coe), both of Aurora, Satira Marie Haughwout, of Auburn, Barbara Gail Stevens (Richard), of Venice Center, and Beatrice Louise Bower (Gregory), of Genoa; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Newell Fenner (Elizabeth), of Lansing; brother-in-law, Donald Radcliff (Georgia), of Aurora; sister-in-law, Julia Carrington, of Spencer; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 in the First Presbyterian Church of Scipioville, 3428 Route 34B, with a reception to follow the service in the church fellowship room.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department.
