Art Exhibit Demonstrates Ability (Arc of Seneca Cayuga)
If you’re out and about in Auburn on First Friday (September 1st), you won’t want to miss the 9th Annual
art exhibition, hosted by Spot Light Studio. The exhibition, ‘Harvest Arts’, will be open from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 39 Genesee Street where you can meet and greet the artists. The exhibit will include sculptures, drawings, paintings and prints. In addition, there will be music by Rocko Dorsey with RD Entertainment. The exhibition is free and open to the public. All artwork will be for sale with the proceeds going to the artist. Spot Light Studio is the arts and entertainment program operated by Arc of Seneca Cayuga and overseen by Ed Sayles.
Spot Light Studio gives people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to explore and develop their creative talents, while also working on life skills that will assist them in developing and maintaining a high degree of self-direction and independence. In the open art studio setting, individuals are encouraged to explore different forms of visual art. However, they also receive individual instruction if they decide to focus on a particular form. The emphasis is to give each person the opportunity to develop their own style.
