Rape charges against a member of the 2016 Cornell University men’s basketball team have been dismissed.
Xavier Eaglin was a freshman at Cornell when he was charged in March of 2016 with rape and criminal sexual act, both felonies, for an alleged incident that happened in a first-year women’s dormitory on North Campus a month earlier. The Cornell Daily Sun reports the case has been dismissed and sealed.
In his only season on the team, Eaglin played in just 7 of Cornell’s 28 games. After he was charged, Eaglin was kicked off the basketball team and banned from the University. He has since returned to his native Texas and is enrolled at a local junior college.
