It’s behind schedule and over budget, but the result is worth it. Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler reported to City Council last week the security upgrades at the North Street headquarters is almost complete, a month after the originally planned completion date.
He tells Finger Lakes News Radio the changes are “awesome.”
State Senator John DeFrancisco was able to secure a $20 thousand grant from the state Department of Criminal Justice Services that Butler says will be used for technology upgrades.
City Council on Thursday approved a $53,000 change order for the project, bringing the final price tag to roughly $265,000. Local and federal asset forfeiture funds paid for the project, and there was no cost to taxpayers.
