Bridget M. (Manzone) Giacona, 87, of Auburn, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1929 in Auburn, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Antonina Lentini Manzone, and had been a life resident. She was affectionately known as “Mama” by her family and most anyone whose heart she touched.
Bridget’s biggest joy was her children and grandchildren. Her love for them was unconditional and unwavering. She most enjoyed visiting with family, joking, laughing and reminiscing. She possessed a true spirit of love. She will be deeply missed and her passing will leave a void in many hearts.
She is survived by her four children: daughters, Mary (Tim) Giacona, of Auburn and Nancy (Steven) Rynkiewicz, of Marcellus; sons, Alan (Wendy) Giacona and Anthony Giacona; seven grandchildren, Jason (Cindy) Warren, twins Bill and Todd Miller, Abbie Giacona, Jessica Giacona, Megan Rynkiewicz and Grace Rynkiewicz; two great-granddaughters, Riley and Emma; two sisters, Vincenta Wheeler and Theresa Goodrich, both of Auburn, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Bridget was predeceased by her husband, Giorgio, in 2011, a grandson, Jacob Rynkiewicz, in 2007 and a sister, Mary Rose Vitagliano.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St. Francis of Assisi Church for Bridget’s Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, August 21 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn, NY 13021.
