More than one hundred motorcycles left Auburn at noon on Saturday in the 2nd Annual Nick’s Ride 4 Friends in support of heroin and opioid addiction awareness. Congressman John Katko joined Cayuga County District Attorney Jon Budelmann on this year’s ride after Katko made a promise one year ago.
Budelmann is also a novice rider. Katko was asked if they’re planning on buying their own motorcycles.
Kevin Jones, co-founder of the Heroin Epidemic Action League (H.E.A.L.), praised Joel Campagnola and his family for finding a positive way to remember their son Nicholas, who died of a fentanyl overdose at the age of 20 in December 2015.
The ride is about remembering Nick and helping people like Nick recover from their addictions.
