The New York Court of Appeals, the State’s highest court has turned down the appeal of a Waterloo man who sexually abused an eight-year-old child in 2011. In February 2015, Ronald Spoor was convicted in Seneca County Supreme Court of Felony first degree criminal sexual act and was sentenced to five-years in prison . Spoor’s attorney argued that Spoor’s statements to a State Police investigator should have been suppressed at trial because he was in custody when he made the statement and did not waive his Miranda rights. In 2016, Spoor was convicted in U.S. District Court of production and possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. He is currently serving his Federal sentence at Allenwood Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania.
