Penn Yan’s Lakeview Cemetery will be the spot to enjoy some of Yates County History when the annual Lakeview Cemetery Tour takes place August 26th. According to the Chronicle Express, local actors will be dressing up to tell the stories of local residents of days gone by. Twenty-seventeen is the hundredth anniversary of the United States’ Involvement in the first World War. To commemorate that, two characters being portrayed this year are World War I nurse Carrie May Jones Hinson, and Harold Johnson – the first Yates County resident killed in the conflict.
The event begins the 26th at 2:00p. Parking will be at the Penn Yan village lot, with shuttle service available. Tickets prices are $5.00 individual, or $15.00 for a family. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Penn Yan Public Library and the Yates County History Center. For more information, the contact number is 315-536-7318
