Carl Salvage, 79, of Fay Road, Syracuse, and formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Aug. 6, 2017 at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center, after a long and rare disabling disease.
He was born on March 30, 1938 in Auburn, the son of the late Nicholas and Lillian Osterman Salvage. Carl had been employed for many years by the American Red Cross. He was a car enthusiast, having enjoyed traveling to various automobile shows in the area. Due to his extended illness, Carl was limited in what activities he could participate or be involved with. He never got angry or discouraged because he was given a bad break, but continued to be upbeat and positive, no matter what the situation was. Carl’s infectious laugh and sense of humor will truly be missed by all who were fortunate enough to get to know this “special” man.
He is survived by sons, John (Amber) Salvage, and Mark Salvage; three brothers, James (Beth) Salvage, Neil (Rory) Salvage, and Gary (Peggy) Salvage; a grandson, Nick and his fiancée, Jodi; very close friend, Dee Dee Cobb; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
There are no services or calling hours at this time. Further notice will be provided at a later date if services occur.
Contributions may be made in Carl’s memory to the American Red Cross, 344 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
Arrangements are by Pettigrass Funeral Home.
