Alberta Oaks Holmes, 88, of Morrisville, N.C. passed away on June 30, 2017 in Raleigh, N.C.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (August 12, 2017) in Resthaven Cemetery, Phelps, N.Y.
Alberta was born in Clifton Springs, N.Y. to Albert and Vesta Oaks on February 1, 1929. She graduated from Phelps Central school in 1947 and went on to attend
Rochester Business Institute where she received a degree in Medical Secretarial Science in 1949. She married Richard Holmes on July 1, 1950 and enjoyed 38 years of marriage until his death in 1988. Since then, she enjoyed traveling the east coast, visiting her children, and becoming a matriarch of the family. She was affectionately known as “granny” to her own grandchildren as well as any other children that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Alberta is survived by three sons Richard of Asheville, N.C., David and wife, Laura of
Bethesda, Md., and Daniel of Morrisville, N.C.; as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Roxanne Holmes Kimbro; four sisters, and one brother.
