Mary E. Kerr, 99, formerly of Perrine Avenue, Auburn, died Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Auburn Community Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Auburn, Mary was born Jan. 29, 1918 at her family home on Cottage Street. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna Kerr, and sister to the late Joseph Kerr and John Kerr, and aunt to the late John D. Kerr, of Rochester.
She was a graduate of Auburn Senior High School; as well as Kent’s Business School. Mary had worked at the former ALCO. She owned and operated the former custom jewelry shop named The Treasure Chest in downtown Auburn. She was a parishioner of St. Peter and Paul Church, and was a sales rep with Avon for 47 years. She had previously been active with the Auburn Senior Citizens and the Cornell Cooperative Extension; she enjoyed gardening, knitting and cooking.
Mary is survived by her niece, Linda Kerr; nephew-in-law, Nicholas Salaita, and great-niece, Nicolette, of California.
A funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday in St. Peter and Paul Church, with burial following in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fleming. Friends are invited to call on the family from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
