An Auburn police officer was injured Monday night while attempting to take a teen from the Cayuga Centers into custody. Chief Shawn Butler tells Finger Lakes News Radio Officer Scott Deyo spotted the unidentified 16-year old in the middle of Osborne St. shortly before 10:30pm.
The teen allegedly grabbed Officer Deyo by the throat. During the arrest the officer sustained a broken right elbow and cuts and bruises to his knees and elbows.
The teen faces a number of charges, including resisting arrest, 2nd degree felony assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and disorderly conduct. He is being held in the Cayuga County jail.
