A Savona woman was sentenced to one-and-a-half-to three years in Tompkins County Jail after stealing several backpacks that belonged to Cornell University students in March.
31 year old April Mace, and 39 year old Richard Huyler, of Addison, were arrested after surveillance videos caught them taking several unattended backpacks from students in campus libraries March 16th. Over 1-HUNDRED stolen items, valued at more than 12-THOUSAND dollars, were recovered as a result of the duo’s arrests. Investigators say the thefts were the result of Mace’s drug dependency.
Mace, who was on probation at the time of her arrest, will serve some of her jail time at the Willard Drug Treatment Center.
