On Monday, July 24, at 96 years young, Florence “Arlene” Babcock, of Millstream Court, Moravia, passed away at Upstate University Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Arlene was born on Nov. 12, 1920 to Lewis and Emma Axton. She was a loving wife to Anthony “Stub” Babcock, who predeceased her in 2001; mother to Donald (Laurie) and Bonnie Bagan. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Savelli (Paul), Sherrie Joseph (Fernand), Shannon Taylor (Brian), Scott Babcock (Erica), Steven Bagan (Jessica), and Michael Bagan (Kristy), and her great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Anthony Savelli, Riley, Rachel, and Ian Joseph, Matthew Dann, Cameron and Bryce Babcock, and Emily and Sammy Bagan. She adored every minute she was able to spend with them.
She loved her New York Yankees and Duke Blue Devils. Anytime she could watch either of these teams she would be in her glory.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband; her parents; her sister, Lona, and brothers, Laverne and Harold.
Arlene will be missed tremendously by all of her friends at Mill Stream, the Locke Diner, Christ United Methodist Church, and by all the people in Moravia who loved seeing her everyday walking all over the village. She will be especially missed by her great friends, Joanne Bell and Pat Paulson, who were wonderful and loving with her every day.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, in Christ United Methodist Church, Moravia, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Four Town First Aid Squad, Christ United Methodist Church, or Aurora of Central New York Inc., in Arlene’s memory.
